Overwhelmed with grief?

Maybe you are noticing feeling paralyzed by recurring thoughts about your loved one, a sense that you can’t go on without them or fear that you will never feel positive feelings again. You may be struggling at work or with family and finding it challenging to get through your day. Whatever it is that you are experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every aspect of life:

  • Struggling to stay focused

  • Challenges connecting to your purpose in life

  • Getting stuck in wishing your loved one was still here

  • Ruminating and avoiding your grief

  • Challenges feeling calm, content or grounded

  • Feeling a deep sense of loneliness

  • Anger that your loved one is gone

  • Challenges with connecting to others, wanting to isolate yourself

  • Feelings of abandonment and shame

  • Challenges with acceptance of the loss

Grief-focused therapy can help.

It may feel unthinkable right now, but you can get to a better place in terms of your grief. You can feel like you are managing and dealing with your grief. You can start to connect to positive feelings again. You can grow from this loss and learn to live with it in a healthy way. I can help you get there.

Grief-focused therapy helps you:

  • Start to understand, notice and honor your feelings

  • Start to build safety around feeling your feelings if you have been avoiding them for a long time

  • We work together to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviors around grief

  • Learn the tools that will help you accept your grief, so you can manage it in a healthy, sustainable way.

  • Start to understand how to live with your grief and also allow space for joy and happiness in your life

As your therapist and guide, I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to grief therapy comes from a place of personal understanding, non-judgment and hope.

Grief can be managed in healthy ways.

I can help you get there.

FAQS

Common questions about grief counseling:

  • Grief counseling focuses on helping the individual honor their loss, learn to accept their complex feelings and learn to cope with the grief. The grief therapist utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to start to identify challenging beliefs and thought patterns, work towards stopping old, negative thought patterns, work towards acceptance, increased mindfulness and self-compassion.

  • The length of counseling services is different for everyone. We will work together to build a therapy plan that works for you. Generally, clients start with counseling services weekly or bi-weekly for 6 to 12 months.

  • The first step is calling (414-899-5915), emailing (info@caitlinwalshcounseling.com), or completing our contact form to book an initial consult. Once we have that consult and make sure we are a good fit for your counseling journey, we schedule our first session. You will get an email with a link to fill out initial paperwork. Then we have our first therapy session either in person or virtually.
